A Love Worth Remembering
ch.1...The Accident (re-write)

John was wheeled into the E.R. after being involved in
a car accident.

Michael was coming out to the elevator as Dr.Casey said."Take Lt.McBain into exam room 2."

"Wait did you say Lt.McBain?What happened to my
brother?"Michael asked

"He was in a car accident.Wait out here and I'll come
and let you know how he is as soon as I examine him."
She said

Michael paced the waiting room for the next hour waiting for word on John's condition.

Suddenly the elevator dinged and Natalie and Bo walked off of it.

"Michael how's John?Where is he?"Natalie asked

"He's in there being examined and I don't know how he
is."Michael said more to Bo.

Just then Dr. Casey walked out and walked over to
Michael.

"How is he?"Michael asked as Bo and Natalie stood
behind him anxiously

"Dr.McBain can I speak to you over here for a moment."
Dr.Casey said

"No whatever you have to say about John you can say it
here."Natalie said snidely

"I'm sorry but I can only discuss a patient's condition
with a family member.Are you family?"she asked Natalie

"No but I'm his girlfriend."she said

"Well then if Dr.McBain wants to fill you in afterwards
that's up to him but for now would you please excuse us."

They moved to a corner and Dr.Casey said."He has a
couple of cracked ribs and a possible concussion.I'm
calling in a Neuro just to be on the safe side.Other
then that the only thing there is to be concerned about
is the fact that he hasn't regained consciousness."

"Thank you Dr.Please keep me up to date on his condition."Michael said

"I'll let you know something as soon as I speak to the
Neurologist."she said heading toward the elevator.

"Can I see him?"Michael asked

"Yes but for now only family."she said as the doors
closed

Michael walked back over to Bo and Natalie and said.
"He has a couple of cracked ribs and a possible
concussion.Dr.Casey is going to have examined by
a Neurologist just to be on the safe side.For now all
we can do is wait for him to regain consciousness."

"Can I see him?"Natalie asked

"No she said for now only family."Michael said

"What?Does she know who I am?I'm Natalie Buchanan.My name means everything in this town.If I want to go see John I will and she can't stop me."she yelled heading for John's room.

MIchael grabbed her arm and said."You may be a Buchanan but I am his brother and you won't go anywhere near him until I say so."

He smiled watching her face crack and turned to go
see John.

He walked in and sat down on the stool and said."Hey
bro it's time for you to wake up and get up off your lazy
ass.Mom and I wouldn't survive without you."

"Ok stop with all the mushy talk Mikey."John said

"Hey you're awake."Michael said smiling.

"Yeah now where's that beautiful girlfriend of mine?"he
asked

"I'll go get her.Natalie is anxious to see you."Michael said heading for the door.

John looked at Michael confused and said"Who's Natalie? My girlfriends name is Evangeline.You know that."

Michael stared at John equally confused and said."I'll
go call her.She'll be here soon."

Then he walked out to see Natalie smiling at him.

"Michael is John awake?"Natalie asked hopeful

"Yeah.I'll be right back.I have to go call Evangeline."

"What?Why would you call her?"Natalie asked

"He said he wants to see his girlfriend."Michael said

"Well that's me."Natalie said happily

"Not according to John.According to John his girlfriend
is Evangeline.He said he doesn't know anyone named
Natalie."Michael said heading to the nurse's station
to call Evangeline leaving Natalie standing there
with a stunned and confused expression.

ch.2....Love Is Never Fogotten

Michael hung up the phone after calling Evangeline and Natalie walked over to him and said."What the hell do you mean he doesn't remember me I'm the woman he loves?"

Michael looked at her frustrated and said."Like I said
he doesn't remember you and he thinks he's still with
Evangeline."

"Let me go see him.I just know as soon as he sees me it will jog his memory and he will remember that I am the woman that he loves."she said heading toward
his room.

"Natalie if you go anywhere near that room I will have
you removed from this hospital and before you say it
I don't care if your last name is Buchanan."Michael said
blocking her way.

"Fine."she said stomping away mumbling to herself.

A few minutes later Evangeline came off the elevator with Cristian right behind her like a puppy dog.

"Michael."she said

"Hey E thanks for coming."Michael said hugging her as
Cristian fumed

"What happened?"

"He was in a car accident.He has a couple of cracked
ribs and according to the Neurologist some swelling in
his brain.The thing is he can't remember the past year
or Natalie.He thinks he's still with you."Michael said

Evangeline looked at him confused and said."How is it
that he remembers me but not Natalie?"

"It's called selective memory.The victim blocks the bad
things from their memory and only remembers the things that brought them happiness.I guess John considers Natalie one of the bad things and you brought him happiness."Michael said

"Is it alright if I go see him?"Evangeline asked

"Of course he's been waiting for you."Michael said
opening the door for her.

When Evangeline walked in John had his head turned
and his eyes closed.

She walked over and sat down on the stool.

Suddenly she heard John said."Flowers in Springtime.
Hey beautiful."

Evangeline stood and sat down on the edge of the
bed.

She smiled down at John and said."How are you?"

"I'm fine just a little sore.How are you? I mean I know it's only been a couple of days since we came back from your aunt funeral."John asked

Evangeline looked at him shocked for a second then
she smiled and said."I'm fine John.You just concentrate on getting better."

John smiled and said."You know there's nothing wrong
with my lips.How about a kiss?"

Evangeline leaned in slowly and John pulled her to him in a passionate kiss.

Cristian and Natalie stood outside John's room watching as John and Evangeline kissed.And even though it was supposed to be fake on Evangeline's part they knew in their hearts that it was the real thing and they were losing the two people they loved the most to the two people they hated most.

When they pulled back for air John said."Hey what do
you say when Mikey springs me we go
back to your place and lock ourselves away from the
rest of the world for a few days?"

Evangeline smiled nervously and said."We'll talk about
that later.Let's just concentrate on getting you well
first."

John yawned and Evangeline said."You look tired.I should go and let you rest."

John grabbed her hand and said."Wait don't go.Will you sing to me.Your voice soothes me.Then I'll sleep."

Evangeline hesitated.Then she smiled and said."Ok."

She took a deep breath and then sang.

And who would ever know there was something missing? I guess I didn't see the possibility, it was waiting all the time, but it never crossed my mind, till you opened up my eyes.

When Evangeline finished the song she looked down
and John was sleeping.

She stood up carefully and quietly walked out of the
room.

When she was outside Natalie walked up to her and
said."I don't care if he can't remember the past year
there is no way I'm going to let you steal my boyfriend."

Evangeline put her hands on her hips and said."Look
you spoiled selfish little brat I'm not trying to steal your
boyfriend.I'm trying to help a friend through a difficult
situation.Of course you wouldn't know anything about
that since you don't have any friends."

Cristian looked up and said."Are you ready to go?"

"No I think I'll stay here.Just incase he needs me but
you go on home.I know that you have to be at the
gym early in the morning."Evangeline said kissing
him on the cheek.

"Ok.I'll call you later."Cristian said before heading to
the elevator.

Evangeline sat down and Natalie snarled her face up
plopping down right next to her.

Evangeline looked over at her and thought."God it's going to be a long night."

ch.3...The Plan

The next morning Evangeline was awakened when she heard John yelling."I don't know who you are lady but if you don't get out of my room I'm gonna to call the
police."

She looked over next to her and saw that Natalie was
gone.

"Damnit."she said getting up and going into John's room.

When she opened the door she heard Natalie say."John baby look at me.It's Natalie.You love me."

"I told you I don't know anyone named Natalie."John
yelled

Natalie turned toward Evangeline and said."This is your fault.You brainwashed him."

Just then Michael walked in and said."I told you to
stay out of here Natalie."then he walked over and picked her up throwing her over his shoulder.He carried her out of the room kicking and screaming.

When they were gone Evangeline walked over to the
bed and said."Are you ok?"

He smiled and said."Who is that crazy ass bitch?"

Evangeline started to try to answer and he said."Never
mind I don't want to know.I just don't want her in here
again."

"Ok.I'll tell Michael to keep her out."she said

John pulled her into a hug and said."Thank you."

Just then Starr Manning walked by and looked into
his room.John saw her and winked.

She gave him the thumbs up and kept walking.

When Evangeline pulled back from the hug John said.
"You look tired.You look good but you look tired.Why
don't you go home and get some sleep."

"I am kind of tired.If you're sure I think I will go home
and sleep for a few hours.I'll be back this afternoon."

"Ok.You have good dreams."John said before kissing
her passionately.

About ten minutes after she left Starr walked in with
a big grin.

"Is it working?"she asked

John smiled and said."Like a charm.Thanks for the
idea.I just wish I hadn't had to wreck my vintage Mustang."

Starr laughed and said."What would you rather have
your Mustang or Evangeline?"

John smiled and said."Evangeline."

"Good answer."Starr said.

Just then Michael walked in and said."I can't believe
you're faking."

John looked at him and said."Hey Mikey.This little girl
just wandered in here."

"Don't even start.I heard the end of that conversation."
Michael said

John looked at his brother pleadingly and said."Please
don't give me away.This is the only way I could think of
to get rid of Natalie and get Evangeline back."

"You really think it's going to be that easy to get rid of
Natalie."Michael said going over to the window and
opening the blinds.

John looked out the window and saw Natalie sitting
with her back to his room.

Starr looked out the window too and said."Well I'll give
her this much.She's persistent."

"No she's a lunatic."John said

Meanwhile at Evangeline's...

Evangeline was in the middle of a beautiful dream
about John when she was awakened by the sound
of someone pounding on her door.

She got up put on her robe and went to the door.

When she opened it she found Cris standing there.

"Cris what are you doing here?"she asked

"Can I come in?"he asked

She stepped aside to allow him to come in.

He stood there for a few seconds and then said."Are
you still in love with John?"

She looked at him shocked and said."What?"

He got frustrated and said."Are you still in love with
John?"

"Cris where is this coming from?"

"Just answer the question."

"Cris I don't know how to answer that question.I love
John yes but am I in love with him.That I can't answer."

"I saw you kiss him yesterday."

"He thinks we're still together.I had to make it look real
for his sake."she said biting the inside of her lip.

"I saw that.Oh my God.You're still in love with him."

"Yes Cris I am and I think it's best that you leave.I have
to get back over to the hospital anyway."

Cris looked at her angrily and said."I won't let him have
you."

She matched his angry look with one of her own and
said."You won't let him have me.I'm not yours to give
or not give.I'm my own person and if I want to go back
to John that's my decision not yours.I want you to leave
and don't come back again.You are a neanderthal
Cristian Vega and I don't know what I ever saw in you.
Goodbye."

She walked over to the door and held it open for him
to go through.

He walked to the door and looked at her sadly before
walking out.

She slammed the door and blew out a heated breath.

Then she went to her room and changed to go back
to the hospital.

When she arrived amazingly Natalie was nowhere to
be found.She walked into John's room and found him
asleep.

She walked over and gently climbed up on the bed.

John felt her lay down next to him and pulled her
under his arm.

She smiled kissed him and drifted off to sleep.

John smiled kissed her forehead whispered."I love you."and went back to sleep.

ch.4....Expect The Unexpected

Evangeline woke up the next morning and saw John
watching her.

"Hey how long have you been awake?"she asked

"Not long.I just love watching you sleep."John said
smiling.

She smiled back and said."I never knew that."

"Oh well there's a lot you don't know about me, but I
think it's time I share more of myself.You once said
when I was ready to talk you would listen.Well I'm
ready to talk."

Evangeline looked at him skeptically and said."Really.
So I can ask you anything and you'll answer it?

John smiled and said."Anything."

"Ok let me think.What was your first word?"Evangeline
said

"Beer."John laughed

"John be serious."

"Ok my first word was momma."

She laughed and said."Oh that's so sweet.Ok.How old
were you when you had your first sexual experience?
Oh and be honest."

John choked on the question and then said."Ok if you
really want to know.I was 16."

"16 huh?What was her name?"she asked grinning.

"Rosanna Battaglia."

"Was she good?"

"Oh yeah.I mean she wasn't as good as you but she
was good."

They both laughed and she went on to ask him a few
more questions.

Just then the nurse came in with his breakfast tray.

John looked at it and said."Do I really have to eat this?
It looks aweful."

Evangeline laughed and said."Yes you do and it doesn't look that bad."

He looked back at the nurse and said."You didn't bring
me any coffee."

"Sorry no coffee.Doctor's orders."she said

"Ah come on.Just one cup.I won't tell anyone."John whinned

"Sorry."she said before turning and walking out.

John looked down at the food again and said."This
really looks aweful."

Evangeline laughed picking up the fork."Oh come on.
Open up.Here come the train.Choo-Choo."

She put the food in his mouth and after he chewed
and swallowed he said."Very funny but you're right.
It's not that bad."

She laughed and said."See I told you."

There was a knock on the door and John said."Come
in."

Michael opened the door with a smile on his face and
said."Good morning.I thought you might be here so
I stopped by the diner and got you a blueberrry
muffin and a large coffee."then he handed it to
Evangeline.

"Thank you Michael.That was very thoughtful of you."

John looked at Michael angrily and said."Wait a minute.
You ban me from coffee but you bring my girlfriend a
cup.That's not fair at all."

Michael smiled and said."I didn't ban you dr.Casey
did and as they say.Lifes a bitch."

John looked at Evangeline and said."You may want to
move."

Evangeline stood up and moved.After she was out of
the line of fire John pulled the pillow from behind him
and nailed Michael with it.

Evangeline laughed and said."Someone is obviously
feeling better."

"I'd be feeling a lot better if dr.jackass would leave the
room."

Michael looked at him hurt and said."Fine grouch.I
have rounds anyway.I'll come back and see if you're
in a better mood later."

When Michael left John looked at Evangeline and said
"You know while I was watching you sleep this morning a song started going through my head.Now granted I have a terrible voice but if you'll bare with me I'd like to sing it to you."

She smiled and said."Ok."

John took a deep breath and sang.

"What?"he asked

"Don't quit your day job."she said laughing.

John laughed with her and then raised her chin to look

"I love you."John said before leaning in and kissing
her softly on the lips.

When they pulled back she smiled and said."I love you
too John."

John kissed her again and they spent the rest of the
day wrapped in each other's arms.

ch.5....Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Lied Too.

Evangeline was walking back to John's room after going home to shower and change.

She was walking passed the nurse's station when she
over heard Michael talking to Starr.

"So Starr how long do you think John is going to be
able to fool everyone?I mean eventually someone is
going to find out he's faking his amnesia."

"Chill out Dr.McBain.Your brother and I have this covered."

"I hope so."Michael said

Evangeline couldn't believe what she was hearing.She
blew out a heated breath and went over to join the
conversation.

"Did you just say that John has been faking his amnesia?"

"Hi Miss Williamson.Bye Doc."Starr said before heading toward her room.

On the way there she stopped by John's room and
said."Hey I just thought I tell you the you know what's
about to hit the fan."

"What are you talking about?"John asked

"Evangeline overheard me and your brother talking
about you faking you amnesia.Here she comes.Good
luck."Starr said before going to her room.

Evangeline walked into John's room with her hands
on her hips and a very angry expression.

"Hey beautiful."John said

"Don't you hey beautiful me you lousy son of a bitch."

John looked at her with a calm unemotional expression, even though he was sweating bullets and said."What's wrong."

She put her hand on her forehead and said."I just overheard Michael and Starr talking in the hall about how you've been faking your amnesia."

John sat up in the bed and said."I can explain baby.
Please just listen to me."

"Listen to you.Why should I listen to you when everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie?"

John stood up and said."Evangeline baby let me explain.Give me five minutes."

"Ok fine you've got five minutes to explain how you
could possibly thing that this idiotic plan was a good
idea."

John took a deep breath and said."Since the day I met
you I've been trying to get you out of my head.I screwed
up so bad with what we had.I've also been trying for
months to get Natalie to leave me alone.I've done
everything I could think of to get her to see that I
don't want her.That I don't love her and never did.
She just wouldn't listen.Then one day Starr was
at the station and saw how frustrated I was with
Natalie and she gave me this idea.I know it was
stupid.I knew it was stupid as soon as I heard
it but I was desparate.Please baby can you forgive
me?"

"No."Evangeline said turning and walking out the door.

John sat back down on the bed stunned and not believing how bad he screwed up this time.

Three days later Dr.Casey released him from the
hospital and he started working on getting Evangeline
back.

John walked into the LPD looking for Antonio.

Just then Antonio walked into the squad room

"Hey Antonio I need you to do something for me."John
said

Antonio looked up and said."Sure John what's up?"

John hesitated and then said."I need you to teach me
to Salsa."

Antonio choked on his coffee and said."You need me
to what?"

"Ok let me rephrase that.I need you and your sister
Adrianna to teach me."

Antonio laughed and said."Ok that I can do.Meet us
at Capricorn tonight."

Later that night John walked into Capricorn to find
Antonio and Adrianna waiting for him.

"Hey guys.I really appreciate this."John said.

"It's no problem."they said in unison.

"Ok John watch us and then just do what we do."

"Ok."

John watched as they showed him the steps and then
Antonio said."Now you try it."

John stepped up to Adrianna and the music started.

"Ouch."Adrianna said as John stepped on her foot.

"Sorry."John said.

Three hours later Antonio was still saying."No John
more hip.You gotta put more hip into it."

After three nights John finally got it down pat.

He called Evangeline.She wouldn't answer his calls so
he left a message.

"Hey it's me.I know I screwed up and you're really
angry at me but I want to make it up to you.Please
meet me at Capricorn tonight.I have a special surprise
planned for you.Of course if you don't come I'll understand.I love you.Bye."

Evangeline was standing there listening and she decided to go just to tell him to leave her alone.

A few hours later she walked in and sat down just as
Antonio walked up on stage and said."Ladies and
Gentlemen.We have a special treat for you.Please
give a warm welcome to Mr.Enrique Iglesias."

Just before he started singing John walked up to
Evanvgeline and said."May I have this dance."

When the music stopped the audience erupted in
thunderous applause and Evangeline said."Where
did you learn to Salsa?"

John laughed and said."Let's just put it this way
Adrianna Kramer's feet will be bruised for weeks."

They both laughed and then he said."Evangeline I
know I screwed up.Can you please forgive me?I
promise I will talk to Natalie tomorrow and tell her
everything.I just want to know that you still love
me even though I can be an idiot sometime."

She smiled and said."I guess I can forgive you for
being an idiot but from now on we tell each other
the truth.Got it."

"Got it.I love you Evangeline."John said

"I love you too you knucklehead."Evangeline said

John leaned in and kissed her and they spent the
rest of the evening talking laughing and dancing.

ch.6....The Truth Shall Set You Free

The morning after John spent the evening dancing with Evangeline he was sitting on his couch thinking
about her and decided he wanted to hear her voice.

Picking up his cell phone he dialed hers.

"Evangeline Williamson."she said

"Good morning beautiful.I was just sitting here thinking
about our evening and wondered if you could stop by
my place.I want to talk to Natalie about the whole
fake amnesia thing and I thought it would be good if
you were here.You know so we could present a
united front."John said

"In other words you're scared she's going to kill you
and you want some protection."Evangeline said laughing.

"Exactly."John said

She smiled and said."I can be there in an hour."

"Great.See ya then.I love you."John said

"See ya then and I love you too."Evangeline said closing her phone.

An hour and a half later both women were sitting on
John's couch while he paced back and forth trying
to decide the best way to start the conversation.

Finally he turned to them and said."The sooner I say
this the better.Natalie I lied."

Natalie scrunched up her face and said."You lied about
what John?"

John took a deep breath and said."About having amnesia.I never had it.It was all a lie to get you out of my life and get Evangeline back."

She turned toward Evangeline and said."You made him do this didn't you.You just couldn't stand that John and I were together and that we loved each other.So you made him pretend to have amnesia so I would be
out of the picture."

"No Natalie.Will you listen to yourself.She didn't do this.
I did it.It was my idea because I was a coward and
couldn't do it the way a man is supposed to.Don't
ever blame Evangeline for this.It was my fault."

Natalie looked at him hurt and said."But John you love
me.Why would you do this if she didn't force you?"

"Yes Natalie I do love you.I will always love you as my
friend but I'm not in love with you.I never was.I've been
in love with Evangeline for almost two years but I was
too afraid to tell her because I never thought I was
good enough.Please just let me go and move on with
your life.I want you to be happy."

She moved toward him and said."John I am happy.I'm
happy with you.I love you.You know that I can make
you so much happier than her.I know you.We both
know each other."

"Natalie I can never make you happy because I will
always be in love with another woman."John said

Natalie put her arms around John neck and said."Just
give me a few minutes in that bed and I can make you
forget you ever knew her stuck up ass."

John pushed Natalie back and said."Ok I tried to be
nice and let you down easy but now you've pushed
me too far."John said walking over to Evangeline."See
this woman right here.She is the love of my life.She
is my yesterday, my today and my tomorrow.She
is the woman I want to fall asleep with tonight and
wake up with tomorrow.If you can't accept that then
we have no business even being friends."

Natalie looked at John with tears running down her
face and ran out of the apartment crying.

When she was gone Evangeline turned to John and
said."Maybe you should go after her and make sure
she's alright."

John stroked her face gently and said."No if I go after
her and coddle her like I always do she going to go
back to thinking that I came after because I realized
that I really do love her.She needs to get over this
obsession she has with me.She's got five thousand
relatives in this town to help her through this.I can't
help her anymore.But you I think I can help."John
said moving closer and nuzzling her neck.

Evangeline giggled and said."What do you say we go
to the Palace and get some lunch?"

He smiled and said."Sounds good.Let me just go grab
a shower and I'll be right with you."

He started toward the bathroom and then stopped and
said."Aren't you coming?"

She looked at him with a grin and said."Oh I know you
don't expect me to just jump in the shower with you."

John walked over scooped her up and said."Do you
ever shut up?"

John smiled and repeated the ministers words.Then

After Evangeline resighted her vows the minister asked
for the rings.

John listened to the minister and then said."I give you

I honor you.This is my solumn vow."

Evangeline repeated the same and then the minister
said."If there is anyone here who can show just cause
why these two should not be lawfully joined let him
speak now or forever hold his piece."There was a
pause and then he continued."With the giving and
the recieving of rings and the pledging of vows I now
pronounce you husband and wife.What God has
brought together let no man put asunder.John you
may now kiss the bride.

John leaned in whispered."I never gave up on us.I just
lost my way for a while."Then he pulls her into a

When they pull apart everyone is cheering and John
and Evangeline smile walking down the isle

A few minutes later they arrive at the reception which
is being held at the Country Club.

After everyone is seated Michael steps up to the
