Glad you updated. Great chapter! Loved all the drama and the unexpectedness (to me, anyway) of how things went down, including Evangeline’s involvement in Clive’s undoing. Loved Summer, too, with her impatience for the BS. She had to put a brother down! LOL. Well, Weaver was certainly impressed, wasn’t he?! ;)

Glad to see the updates for this story, Marceline. Just read the last few chapters and loved the interaction between John and Evangeline; you write them so realistically. I also love the strength of John’s commitment to Evangeline and her safety (although it seems to be frustrating to her at times.) These words John spoke to Rex also struck me:
“We fight like cats and dogs. We get it all out there because the bottom line is we both know that the other isn’t going anywhere. I could no more leave her again than I could stop the sun from shining. Nature always wins out and, for me, being with Evangeline is the most natural thing in the world.”
Loved it. For some reason, those words kind of put me in the mind of Corinne Bailey Rae’s song “Just Like A Star.”
And I also enjoyed the interaction between the others, as well. It’s refreshing to experience a Layla that is feisty and headstrong, unlike the watered-down version TPTB is currently serving up on screen. But LOL, I’m torn – I like the idea of Layla and Junior!

Oh I love it. They are definitely a dynamic duo! LOL! I'm as impressed with Evangeline as John is. Only I'm not surpised. That's our girl! And Summer is equally as bad ass. I love that they managed to squash that whimpering, sniveling bastard.

I’m very excited to read another fantastic chapter though the ominous tone is scaring me. I hope John doesn't do anything stupid. Oh wait, what am I saying? He already has by kidnapping someone at gunpoint; a lawyer no less. Jeez Johnny, I hope you know what you're doing. Van knows her man too. She knows he couldn't stand by allowing that bastard to get away with hurting his beloved. Please let her heart be okay. He was ripped from her one too many times and I would love to 'see' them flourishing in the house that John built on that beautiful piece of land upstate, preferably with lots of blue-eyed babies making their love story complete.

As for this story..hmmm..something tells me Evangeline knew what he was going to do. Not sure if it's a good idea, but I understand John's tenacity and desperation. Clive is never going to go away.

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. Having had personal experience with severe burns, it's a good sign of recovery if you are feeling well enough to update your wonderful story. Be well and when you're able, use plenty of Eucerin lotion to keep the moisture in your skin.

John had me rolling/1 I could just see ME's expression/demeanor while sitting there, saying nothing as drama unfolds in front of him. That's until his beloved was caught between two nuckleheads who were about to fight. Ah hellz nah, McBain ain't having that.
Now John, you just got the love of you life back. Don't go doing anything stupid. I kinda like you in one piece....scarred and flawed yet unharmed plus Van will kill you if you get hurt. lol
