Yeah, Pari I'm gonna have to ask what are you basing your opinion on? The guy's only directed one film that's out now.

I agree with Ladyluck - I'm usually very fond of Halle Berry, but she was blatantly miscast, and directed to act the character in very weird ways. Her Storm comes off rather passive-agressive and guarded - and I have serious problems with the body language she presents. That said, I have to commend the way she demanded more screentime for her character and made it her business to flesh out and grow Storm. And yes, I'd have loved to see Nona Gaye in that role. As a plus she's got that background in action movies...

I'm rather unenthusiastic about the X-men movies, frankly - why couldn't Marvel comprise the filming crew and production teams of people who already knew the franchise and the characters? I think one of the reasons the films are so remarkably unremarkable is owed to this lack of enthusiasm. Compare them with the Iron Man movie which has a very distinctive "made by fans, for the fans" feel to it..

Really? I think he's a bit untested as a movie director (Serenity being the only movie he's directed so far) but he's done some awesome work directing TV episodes. Some of the best Buffy episodes were directed by him so I think he could do a good job with a big budget movie.

I never watched the movie Serenity, because I didn't care for Firefly, personally. But I have watched every episode of Buffy, some episodes of Angel and Dollhouse so I am familiar with his directorial work on TV (Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, and The Office), and I'm just not a fan, was not impressed, and he even directed some of my fave Buffy episodes, like Once more with Feeling, The Body (which he also wrote). As I said I'm more of a fan of his writing and producing. Will he be a wonderful director if he directs The Avengers movie, maybe, but would he be someone I would like to see directing it, no and again that's based off of the directing style I've seen from him thus far. That's just my opinion, that and a pocket full of rocks will get 'you' nowhere, but it makes 'me' happy.

Please read my reply to LadyLuck523. As I said to her I am quite familiar with Joss's directorial style. He may have only directed 1 movie but he's been directing (TV Shows) for a very long while. 'THAT' is what I'm basing it off of, I've seen he directorial style and I'm not impressed.

Oh, I don't mind it at all. Actually I'm happy to see any kind of discussion here. As long as people are enjoying the forum, I'm fine

I'm not a huge fan of the X Men movies in general. I will watch the. (I have to it's X Men) I didn't think Halle Berry was the best pic for Storm even though I tend to like her acting in other movies. I like Angela Basset, I think she looks like Storm and she just looks strong. I dunno, whats done is done *sigh*. The best thing about those movies is Wolverines bar scene in X 1. I can literally watch that over and over.

Looking through old threads on a whim here, but I saw the discussion on Halle's take on Ororo hinging on the director's actions/decisions, which I completely agree with. Halle is a fantastic actress (imo, anyway. she's proven herself with an Oscar nomination/win, I think.) and if we had to blame someone for Storm's lackluster roles in the X-Movies so far, it'd be the scriptwriters and/or director(s).

More to the point, I saw the discussion on Joss Whedon and whether or not he'd be able to write/direct a big budget, blockbuster film. Well, The Avengers came out last month and has grossed almost a billion dollars. It's done spectacularly well in the box office and has had pretty good reviews (I loved it, personally. Saw it twice in the movies and all.)

That said, what do you guys think about that? Joss proved himself worthy of helming a huge Marvel movie. I do think that if he'd had a say in an X-Men film, Storm would accomplish so much more. Like, exponentially more. (after all, Joss loves strong female characters, doesn't he?)

(all very very speculative, since I'm pretty sure he's never going to go into a deal with Fox ever again ever, after what happened with Firefly. alas. this is why we can't have nice things, and why Marvel needs to get the rights back from Fox already.)

In my opinion, I thought Halle did a nice job. Personally I din't see why ppl complain, there's ALWAYS going to be a flaw or two in the movie, and Hugh Jackman was AMAZING as Wolvie, so all you haters, be quiet! I din't know half the actresses you guys mentioned, so I'm lost. Lol. Then again, I'm only seventeen and just got my license, so I guess it's not too surprising.
