Evangeline and John are married and Natalie is still chasing after John. The story takes place 6 months after Natalie is rescued from the pit but before Evangeline finds out John’s big secret about Cris.
Evangeline and John are having marital problems because of Natalie’s continued interruptions into their lives. Evangeline has had enough of her and John can’t let her go because of all the guilt he feels over Cris.
Evangeline is working together with Nora, Marcie and Vicky to open a woman’s center in Llanview because of this she takes on a partner in her law firm, Quincy Adams. Quincy is attractive to Evangeline and when he sees his opening he makes the most of it. Evangeline tired of John protecting and running to Natalie over her protests starts to fall for Quincy’s advances. John begins to see the attraction between Evangeline and Quincy and becomes jealous. He becomes possessive driving Evangeline further away from him and closer to Quincy. Evangeline finds out something about John that will cost him her trust and love.
