John was sitting on a bench in Angel Square thinking about the biggest
mistake he's ever made.Letting Evangeline go.
He kept having flashes of their relationship from the moment he first saw her
to the day she told him it was over.
"Damnit,why was I so stupid?I have to do something.I have to convince her that
she's the woman I want to be with.She's the woman I love.Even if I have to make
a complete ass of myself.I can't spend another day without my Evangeline."
He got up and decided to go to Rodi's for a beer and figure out how to get
Evangeline back.
He walked in and it was unusually quiet for a Friday night.Only a handful of people
in the place.He walked up to the bar and ordered a Hounds beer.
He was leaning against the bar trying to figure out how to get her back when
he heard that beautiful soft voice behind him say."Drowning your sorrows is
never a good thing."
He turned and smiled."Nothing like a good beer to clear your head."
"Why are you trying to clear your head,John?"she asked
"I'm trying to fix everything I screwed up,especially us."he said
"John,there is no us.There hasn't been an us in a long time."
Just then John saw the kareoke machine in the corner and it hit him.
He smiled and said."Well,I said I may have to make an ass of myself so here
it goes."
He walked over to machine and looked for the song he wanted to do.
When he found it he said."I know that I don't have the voice for this,but maybe
if I make an ass of myself it will convince you that we belong together and that
I love you."John said as the music started.
One word, that's all was said,

When he finished he walked over to her and said."Tell me what I have to do and
I'll do it.Tell me what I have to do to fix us.I want you to believe in me again."
"John,what do you want from me?"
"I want you to tell me that you still love me and that there's a chance for us to
get back being happy again."
"John don't you understand.I do still love you,but you never loved me."
"Evangeline,baby that's not true.I do love you.I've loved you since that night on
the docks after the Eagles game.You know thumbs,pinkies.Please baby tell
what you want me to do to fix this and I'll do it."
Evangeline looked at John questioningly."John,how do I know you aren't just
saying this to get back in my bed?"
John looked at her hurt."Remember when we broke up.You said that I don't say
things that I don't mean,so when I tell you that I love you,you should know that
it's true and besides I would never tell you something just to get back in your
bed.So tell me what I have to do to fix this."
She stood in front of him with her hands on her hips and said."Ok,if you really
want to know.First get some therapy.You need to get rid of all of the stuff that
has been eating you alive.Everything about your father,Caitlin and Cristian and
Natalie.The second thing is you have to make it clear to Natalie that it's me
that you want and get her to back off.If you do those two things then we can
talk about there being an us,but not until then."
John smiled."I'll call Dr. Jamison tomorrow and as far as Natalie goes I've already
taken care of that.I told her that I love you and I want a life with you and she
can't be anything to me anymore,not even my friend.I told her that I won't lose
my chance with you because of her."
Evangeline looked at him amazed."You're actually going to start therapy with
no arguement.I'm impressed."
"I told you I would do anything and if talking to a shrink will help me get a chance
with you then I'm all for it,besides it's time I deal with all of that stuff not just for
you but for me."
She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him and said."I love you,
Johnny Mac."
He held her tightly and said."I love you too,Cookie and remember what I said.
