ch.1...Making Plans
The morning after John proposed to Evangeline she called Layla,Nora,
Marcie and Blair to come over and help her start planning the wedding.
They all arrived 1 hour later with Danishes and coffee.Layla came in
carrying Bridal magazines with everything from flowers to quizzes on how
to please your man sexually.
When they settled down on the couch with their food and coffee Nora
said."So Evangeline,when is the wedding?"
"I don't know,John and I haven't set a date yet."Evangeline answered
"So why are we here?I mean doesn't it make more sense to set the
date first."Layla asked
"You know me Layla.I like to get a head start on everything."
"Evangeline,call John and set the date."Nora said
Evangeline smiled,picked up the phone and dialed John's office number.
"McBain."John said into the phone.
"Hey sunshine,it's me.Are you busy?"Evangeline asked with a grin
John grinned too and said."Goodmorning angel.Never too busy for
you.Now to what do I owe this very pleasant surprise."
"Well,I'm sitting here with Nora,Layla,Marcie and Blair.We're starting
the wedding plans and they insisted that I call you and pick a wedding
date so we would know how long we have to get every detail perfect."
"Why do we have to set a wedding date now.I mean we just got engaged
last night.Can't we just enjoy it for a while?Besides the only thing
we need to make our wedding perfect is us."
"Ah McBain.You're such a sweet talker, but yes we have to set the
date now.So how about November 15th?"
"No,that's too far away.How about June 15th?"John said
"June is too cliche.Ok how about July 15th and what is it about the
number 15,McBain?
"July 15th works for me and it's my lucky number."John said laughing
Just then Bo walked in and John said."Sorry angel I gotta go.The boss
just walked in."
"Ok,I love you,sunshine."Evangeline said smiling
"I love you too,angel."John said hanging up
Evangeline hung up and looked at the ladies."Ok we have until the first
week of July.I want everything ready a week before the wedding.No
surprises."
"Ok then,let's get started.By the way, you have to tell me.Why do you
call John sunshine?"Nora said
Evangeline laughed and said."Ok, but you have to promise that you
won't tell John."Evangeline said looking around the room
"We promise."the ladies said in unison.
She smiled and said."The weekend John took me to Philly to show me
that he loved me.He showed up at my door on Friday night and when
I saw him in that tuxedo I started hearing in my head.You are my
sunshine.My only sunshine.You make me happy when skies are
grey.You'll never know dear how much I love you.Please don't take my
sunshine away and I heard it off and on all weekend.So that is why I
call him sunshine."
The ladies all laughed and Blair said."Ah, that's so cute."
"Yeah, yeah it's cute.Now let's get to work."Evangeline said smiling
at the memory.
They looked at flowers and invitations for a couple of hours
and then Layla said."Let's take a break and take one of these quizzes."
"Ok , but just for a little while.What's the first question?"Evangeline asked
"What does your mate perfer you in.A) A silky negligee.B) PJ's or C)
Nothing at all."
Evangeline grinned and said."Well, John likes me in nothing at all.Except
alittle whipped cream every once in a while.
Layla laughed and said."Well now I know what to get him for a wedding
present.A lifetime supply of whipped cream."
Evangeline grinned and said."Get me a supply of it too.It tastes really
good on a certain part of John's body."
Nora shook her head and said."Ok, ok next question please."
They spent the next couple of hours taking quizzes and laughing.
About noon they were laughing at Layla who was doing her John impersonate.
"I heard him say this once.So this is me doing John's impersonation of
Robert DeNiro."Then she put her hands on her hips and said."Hey,you
talkin to me.Are you talkin to me?"
Suddenly Layla felt hands coming around her waist and looked behind
her to see John grinning at her."I can do it much better."He said laughing.
Evangeline got up,walked over to him and said."Hey what are doing
here in the middle of the day?"
John kissed her and said."What, a guy can't come home and have
lunch with his fiancee?"
The ladies all got up and said goodbye to the happy couple.
John kissed Layla and said."Bye lil sis."
Layla glared at him and said."John, if you call me lil sis one more time
I'm going to hit you with one of those boxing moves that Evangeline
taught me."
John grinned and said."Ok sorry, baby sister."
Layla looked at him and said."John McBain."
Just then Evangeline cut her off and said."Oh come on, Layla he's just
trying to be funny."
"Well he's failing miserably."Layla said.
John laughed and said."I'm sorry."he walked over gave her a kiss on
the cheek and said."Bye La La."
Layla shook her head, grabbed her coat and said."I give up."
Then she walked out the door.John closed it behind her grabbed
Evangeline's hand and said."I thought they would never leave."
"So when do you have to go back to the station."Evangeline asked
kissing him
"Unless they call me, not until Monday."John said pulling Evangeline
into the bedroom.
Evangeline said."John what are you doing?"
John grinned, disappeared into the kitchen and came back with a
tub of whipped cream and said."Sunshine's about to get very, very
naughty."
Evangeline laughed and they disappeared into the bedroom closing
the door behind them.
