Mountain Hideaway
About three weeks after it was announced that John
was dead Evangeline was sitting in her apartment still
mourning him and vowing to get Spencer Truman for
taking away the love of her life when her phone rang.
The past few days she had been letting the answering
machine pick up but something told her she needed
to answer this call.
She answered the phone and immediately after hanging up stood up grabbed her coat and purse and ran out the door nearly knocking Layla to the ground.
"Sorry Layla."she said heading to the elevator.
"Where are you going in such a hurry?"Layla asked
"I don't have time to explain right now.I'll tell you later.
Bye."Evangeline said stepping into the elevator and
pushing the down button.
"Bye."Layla said as the doors closed.
Evangeline got in her car and drove like a bat out of
hell to the address on Llantano mountain that she
heard on the phone.
Thirty minutes later she knocked on the door of the
cabin and when it opened she started crying.
"Hey don't cry.I hate to see you cry."John said wrapping
his arms around her.
Evangeline wrapped her arms around his neck crying
even harder and said."I couldn't believe it when I heard
your voice on the phone.I nearly knocked my sister
to the ground running for the elevator.John I don't
understand.They told us you were dead."
John walked her over to the sofa sat down and said.
"Hugh and I faked my death.It was the only way to
get what we needed to put Truman away for my dad's
murder."
"I guess that means you got him.Otherwise you
wouldn't have called me."Evangeline said
"Yeah the ACPD arrested him this morning."John said
"So when are you coming back to Llanview.Who else
knows that you're here besides Hugh?"
"No one and I need to stay here until I'm sure it's safe
for my family but I needed to see you."
"Why?"Evangeline asked confused."Why me and not
Natalie.I mean she's your girlfriend."
John sighed then said."Because she's not the woman
I want.You are.You're my yesterday, today, tomorrow.
You're the woman I should have fought for.The woman
that I should have been with all this time.Instead I wasted precious time with a woman that I was settling for because the woman I thought I wasn't good enough
for you.Now you're in love with someone else and I'm
lost in my misery because I was too much of a coward
to tell you that I love you more than I have ever loved
anyone in my life."
Evangeline smiled and said."I love you too.I ended
things with Cris when I found out that you died.Or at
least when we thought you died.I just couldn't stay
with him knowing that the love of my life was gone
forever.But what about Natalie?"
"Well according to Rex it didn't take Natalie long to
find her latest victim.She's moved on with Nash Brenan."
Evangeline looked at him for what felt like an eternity
and then said."What happens now?"
John smiled and said."Well I could do what I've wanted
to do for months."
"What?"Evangeline said returning the smile.
"This."John said leaning down and kissing her.The
kiss was soft but it soon turned passionate, deep
and so hot it could melt an iceburg.
"John maybe we should stop."Evangeline said
"You want to stop?"John asked
"Do you?"Evangeline asked
"I asked you first."John said in between kisses.
Evangeline shook her head and John pulled her to him.
Soon they were both naked on a faux fur blanket in
front of the fire.
They made love to each other all through the night
and into the next day.
Finally Evangeline said."Maybe I should go.People
are going to start wondering where I am."
"Yeah maybe you're right.Will you come back?"
"Of course.Nothing will keep me away from you."
"Good."John said.
Just then his phone rang.
"Yeah."John said
"Hey you can come home.Spencer has been booked
and there's not a judge in the land that will let him go
with the charges we've got against him.So get your
stuff and get back to your family and your life."Hugh
said
John smiled at Evangeline and said."I've got my life
right here in my arms."
"What does that mean?"Hugh asked
"I'll explain it when I see you.Later man."John said
hanging up the phone.
He kissed her and said."Let's go home and start our
life together."
"What?"Evangeline said sitting up not bothering to
cover her nakedness.
"I said.Let's go home and start our life together and
the first thing I'm going to do is find a new apartment.
I want to put as much distance between my new life
and my old life as possible."John said standing up
and getting dressed.
Evangeline stood up and for the first time in her life
she decided to do what she wanted and not what was
expected of her."John move in with me."she said
"What?"John asked with a huge grin.
"You heard me John.Move in with me.You said you
wanted us to start our life together.What better way
then to live together?"
John kissed her and said."Let's go home beautiful."
A hour later they walked into her apartment and began
their new life.
