John arrived at the hospital for his daily visit to Evangelinewho had been in a coma for three weeks.
Spotting Michael at the nurse's station he walked over
to him and said."Hey Mikey how is she today?"
Michael smiled at the love he saw in his brother's eyes
when he spoke of Evangeline and said."Well she
started breathing on her own so we were able to
remove the breathing tube.She still hasn't shown any
signs of waking up yet."
"Well don't worry she will.Can I go in?"
"Yeah of course you can."Michael said.
John stepped quietly into her room and just like every
other time he had come to visit her she lay there
not moving only this time she didn't have the breathing
tube and he could see what looked like a faint smile
on her face.
"Hey beautiful.It's me again.You know I've been here
every day for the last three weeks and I'm going to
keep showing up until you wake up and tell me to go
away."
He sat down on the stool next to her bed and took her
hand.Then he kissed it and said."God I miss you.I
need you to wake up so I can tell you that I love you."
He stroked her face and then said."Ok you know I
didn't want to have to do this but you leave me no
choice.I'm going to start singing and I'm not going to
stop until you wake up.Now I'm warning you I have
the worst voice of anyone I know.Imagine that the
son of a lounge singer has a terrible voice.Anyway
I'm giving you one last chance before I start belting
out tunes."
He looked at her face and saw no change.Disappointed he said.
"Ok you asked for it."
One word, that's all was said,

Suddenly he heard."John stop please.I'm awake."

"John wait."Evangeline said reaching for his hand."I have to tell you something."
"Ok you can tell me anything."John said happily.
"I love you.I never stopped.I tried to move on with Cris
but I could never get over you.I want to try again.I know
that you're with Natalie but...."
John put his finger to her lips and said."I'm not with
Natalie anymore.I want to try again too.I've been here
every day for the last three weeks just waiting for you
to wake up so I could tell you that I love you.That I've
always loved you and I want to have a life with you."
Then he got down on one knee and said."I know that
we've had our problems and this is sudden but I told
God that if he sent you back to me I wasn't going to
waste a second of our second chance.So Evangeline
Marie Williamson will you do this stubborn Irishman
the honor of becoming my wife."
Evangeline smiled with tears in her eyes and said."I
don't want to waste a second of our second chance
either.So yes John I will marry you."
John leaned in and kissed her tenderly.
When they broke the kiss Evangeline looked up and
said."John Key Largo?"
"Well what can I say I love Bogie."John said smiling.
Evangeline laughed and said."Kiss me Bogie."
John pulled her into a passionate kiss.
Then he went to get Michael.
Three weeks after Evangeline came out of her coma
they were married and nine months to the day of their
wedding Evangeline gave birth to a daughter Renee
