Hostage Hearts
ch.1....Hostages
John walked into the bullpen humming after his night
of passion with Evangeline.
Even though they still had a lot of work to do on their
relationship he felt like they were well on their way to
mending everything that was broken since she walked
out of his office that terrible day almost two years ago.
He smiled thinking about the fact that he woke up with
her in his arms and he swore he would never
be without her again.
Suddenly he was snapped out of his thoughts by Bo.
"John,John."
"Yeah Bo sorry."John said
"You sure are in a good mood.I hope this doesn't
spoil it."Bo said
"Nothing could spoil it.What's up?"
"I just got a call that there is a robbery and hostage
situation at Alderson's jewelry store and I remembered
that when you were with the FBI not only were you
an expert in serial killers you were also their top hostage
negotiator.So I need you to put a team together and
go down there."
"You got it Bo."John said walking off.Then he stopped
dead in his tracks."Wait did you say Alderson's?"
"Yeah."Bo said.
John grabbed the desk clerks phone and dialed Evangeline
cell phone."Evangeline said she was going to Alderson's
to get her watch repaired this morning.Damnit."he said
slamming the phone down."It went straight to voicemail."
"John are you sure it was Alderson's?I mean maybe
it was one of the stores in the mall."Bo said
"I'm positive Bo.Listen I'm going to get the team together
and get over there."John said heading out of the bullpen.
"Hey John are you sure you can handle this?I mean
this is personal."
"Bo I was trained to handle these situations no matter
how personal they are.I'll be ok."John said turning to
leave.
John knocked on Antonio's office door and heard."Come in."
John walked in and said"Hey I need you to help me
get a team together.We've got a robbery and hostage
situation down at Alderson's jewelry store."
"Ok let's do it."Antonio said getting up to go with him.
"Antonio no screwups on this one.There's a possibility
that Evangeline is in that store.I just got her to believe
in us again.I can't lose her."
"No problem John.I'll get our best guys on it."Antonio
said
"Good I want Cerrutti,Johnson Matthews and Talia."
John said
"No not Talia.Sorry man but we just found out that we're
going to have a baby.I can't take the risk."Antonio said
beaming.
"Antonio."Talia yelled
"Hey baby what's up?"Antonio said smiling.
"I told you not to do that."Talia said angrily.
"Do what?"Antonio asked
"Control what I do on the job.I know that you're worried
about me and the baby but I am not going to stop doing
my job.The doctor said I could do everything I did before
I just have to be careful."
"I know what the doctor said.I was there remember but
this is a hostage situation and they're dangerous.I'm
not going to let you do something that could cause
you or our child to be hurt or killed."
"Hey I hate to interrupt but we have to get going so
if she wants to help she can do crowd control.That way
she's there and helping but there's no danger involved."
Talia smiled."Thank you boss."Then she turned to
Antonio and said."Does that work for you?"
"Yes it does.But you have to promise me that you
will stay away from that building."
"I promise.Thank you snuggle bear."Talia said kissing
him and walking away.
When she walked away Antonio looked at John and
said."Not one word about that nickname."
John smiled and said."I wasn't going to say anything."
"Good let's get the team together."Antonio said walking
away.
An hour later they were outside the jewelry store.
After handing out the assignments John picked up
the bullhorn and said."This is Lt.John McBain of the
Llanview Police Department come out with your hands
up and no one will be hurt."
Meanwhile inside....
Evangeline was sitting in the floor with the other hostages when she heard one of the robbers say."Well Lt.McBain that's not going to happen until you meet all of my demands."
"John."she said.Then she looked to see if she was
being watched.When she knew that it was safe she
pulled her cell phone out of her pocket and dial his
cell.
Outside....
John felt his cell viberate and looked to see who it
was.Seeing Evangeline's name on the LCD he
answered it.
"Evangeline baby where are you?"John said
"I'm in the jewelry store.When I heard him say your
name I remembered my cell was in my pocket.John
I'm so scared."
"I know baby and I'm going to get you out of there."John
said trying to calm her fears.
"I know you will."she said.
"I love you Evangeline.I just got you back and I'm not
going to let anything happen to you."
"I love you too John...."
Suddenly John heard her scream and the line went
dead.
