Happy Father's Day John
"Yeah mom it's three days before Father's Day and I
still don't know what to get John."Evangeline said into
the phone.
"How about a night of mindblowing sex?"John said from behind her.
"John I'm talking to mom.Shhh."Evangeline
said
"Evangeline we have a two and a half year old daughter.Your mom knows we have sex."John said laughing and looking around the room.
"John baby what are you looking for?"Evangeline asked
"My watch.Have you seen it?"John said still looking
around
"The last time I saw it it was your nightstand.Hey where's Renee?I thought you were watching her."Evangeline said
"She's in the living room watching Blue's Clues."
Suddenly they heard the toilet flush and Renee said.
"Uh Oh."
John looked at Evangeline and said."You don't think?
I mean she couldn't have."
"Mom I'll call you later."Evangeline said hanging up
the phone and going with John to the bathroom.
They walked in to find the toilet overflowing and Renee
standing in the middle of a puddle of water.
Evangeline picked her up and said."Renee baby what
did you do?"
Renee grinned at her mom and said."Daddy's watch
go bye-bye."
"Damnit."John yelled
"John."Evangeline said angrily while holding Renee.
"Evangeline my dad gave me that watch.You know
how much it means to me."John snapped
"Well call a plumber but don't yell you're scaring her."
Renee looked at her father with tears in her eyes and
said."I sowwy daddy.Pwease don't be mad.I get you
a new watch."
John took Renee from Evangeline and said."It's ok baby mac.Daddy knows you didn't mean to do it."Then he kissed her on the cheek
"Do you stiww wuv me daddy?"Renee said with tears
still streaming down her face.
"Of course I still love you.Daddy will always love you.
Come on let's go call a plumber and see if he can
get daddy's watch out of the drain."
John and Renee went into the living room and called
the plumber while Evangeline stayed in the bathroom
trying to dry up the floor.Which wasn't easy with her
ever expanding tummy.
Evangeline was eight and a half months pregnant
with their son and it was getting harder and harder to
take care of her home.
John walked into the bathroom a few minutes later and
found Evangeline trying to bend over and pick up a
wet towel from the floor.
"Hey let me get that.You know the doctor told you
no bending and no overexerting yourself.Now you go
into the living room and relax and I'll finish cleaning
this up."John said reaching for the towel.
After John finished cleaning up the bathroom he went
into the kitchen and started cooking dinner.
Before they got married John mentioned to Evangeline
that he was a lousy cook so she got her friend famed
chief and talk show host Rachael Ray to give him some lessons and over the last couple of years he had actually become an amazing cook.
Evangeline walked into the kitchen and smiled
remembering the day she walked into the apartment
and caught him watching one of Rachael's shows.
She snuck up behind him and said."You think she's
cute don't you?"
John looked up and said."Yeah but not as cute as
my beautiful wife."
"Can you hand me the balsomic vinegar out of the
pantry?"John said
Evangeline snapped out of her daydream and said."Yeah sure."
She handed him the vinegar.Then she said."I bet you
think she's cuter than me now."
"Who?"John said confused.
"Rachael."Evangeline said."I mean look at me.I'm
as big as a water buffalo."
John stopped what he was doing and turned around
to face her.Walking over to her and wrapping his arms
around her he said"Evangeline you are as beautiful
today as you were the day I met you.And to me the
times you are the most beautiful are when you have
our baby growing inside of you."
Evangeline smiled putting her arms around his neck
she said."I love you John but you know you can't
say things like that right now.My hormones can't
handle it."
John smiled wiped her tears and said."I'm sorry Angel
but I have to say what I feel."Then he leaned in and
kissed her tenderly.
Suddenly Evangeline felt a tug on her dress and looked down to see Renee standing there.
"Hi baby."Evangeline said smiling at her.
"Hi mommy.Mommy don't be mad."Renee said.
"About what baby?"Evangeline asked
"I no make it to the potty."Renee said with tears in
her eyes.
"It's ok baby.Let's go get you changed before dinner."
Evangeline took her hand and lead her to her room
to change.
Twenty minutes later they had a delicious dinner of
baked chicken roasted red potatoes with onions and
garlic and a beautiful salad with balsomic vinegrette.
After dinner John loaded the dishwasher and then
gave Renee a bath and put her to bed while Evangeline relaxed on the sofa.
The next mornig John called Bo and told him he was
working at home because Evangeline wasn't feeling
well so he wanted to stay home and take care of
her.
He was sitting on the sofa after lunch reading a case
file when Evangeline came into the living room and
said."John do you think you could call Layla to come
over and stay with Renee?"
"Yeah I guess so.But why?"John asked looking over
at her.
"Because I think I'm in labor."Evangeline said as another contraction hit her."No make that I am in labor."
John picked up the phone called Layla and a half hour
later Evangeline was being wheeled into a room at the
hospital.
When John walked in he looked at the nurse and said.
"I remember the last time we went through this.I want
that epidural NOW."
Evangeline scowled at him and said."Ignore him.I want
him to suffer alittle.Maybe he will learn to keep his
hands to himself when I tell him I'm not in the mood."
When Dr.Easton came in a few minutes later Evangeline was screaming."John McBain if you come near me with that thing again I'll find me a sharp knife and turn it into minced meat."
John looked up at Dr.Easton and said."Cammie I'm
begging you.Please give her an epidural."
She laughed and said."Evangeline do you want an
epidural now?"
"YESSSSSSSSSSS."Evangeline yelled
Dr.Easton paged the anesthesiologist and twenty
minutes later Evangeline and John were feeling no
pain.
Nine hours after Evangeline arrived at the hospital
her water finally broke and one hour later Evangeline
gave birth to Michael Chase McBain.
Two days after Evangeline was released from the
hospital John walked into the living room and found
Evangeline sitting on the sofa with the kids.The
stereo was on and she was singing.
I used to sleep on Saturday mornin' til half past ten

Grocery shoppin' just wasn't fun

Evangeline smiled because the song was true she's
