Anymore
Two weeks after Evangeline woke up from her coma
and was released from the hospital she was sitting
on her couch watching an old movie that John got
her hooked on.
Right when Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster were
about to make love on the beach there was a knock
at the door.She got up to see who it was thinking to
herself "I would have chosen Prewitt.He was much
better looking."
When she looked through the peephole she didn't
see anyone so she very slowly opened the door.
She stuck her head out the door and looked down
the hall.Seeing no one there she said."That's weird."
Just as she was about to close the door and go
back to her movie she looked down and saw a small
package.
Reaching down she picked it up and saw no return
address.Just her name written on it and an envelope
stuck to it.
She walked back in and closed the door walking
back to the couch.
Pulling the envelope off of the package she opened
it and pulled out the small piece of paper and read.
My dearest Evangeline
I know this may seem a little strange but I thought
that if I did this face to face you wouldn't believe me
and I also didn't have nerve enough to do what I'm
going to do on the tape in person.I want to give us
another try.After you watch the tape if you want the
same thing come to me.I'll be waiting for you in the
place I hope you recognize on the tape.If you don't
come I will understand.No matter what you decide
I just want you to know I LOVE YOU.
John
Shocked at seeing the words I love you written on
the page she reached into the package and pulled
out the tape.Looking at it for a moment before
walking over and placing it in the VCR.
Walking back to the couch she picked up the remote
and pressed play.
A moment later John's beautiful face appeared on
the screen.
"Hi beautiful."John walked around and then said."I
hope this place brings back as many good memories
for you as it has for me."
Evangeline smiled as thoughts of that very special
night in a strangers basement came flooding back
to her.
To Evangeline's surprise John smiled and said."You're
smiling.I'm so glad you remembered.That was one
of the most amazing nights of my life because it was
the first time I had felt alive in over five years.I always
felt so alive when we were together.No matter what
we did I felt so happy and because of my fears I let
it all go.I still can't believe I let you get away without
telling you that I love you.That I've loved you since
about a week before I gave you my mom's pearls.
I wanted to tell you so many times.When you gave
me this."John said holding up the napkin that she
had written I love you E on for his birthday." I wanted
to scream it from the rooftops but that damn fear
of mine always held me back.Well that ends now.
I love you Evangeline Williamson.I know you're
probably sitting on your couch right now thinking
yeah right McBain.Well I don't blame you but I'm
about to prove it.If this doesn't make you believe
me nothing will."
John turned and walked over to the crate under the
stairs where HE kissed her for the first time and
pressed play on the radio/cd player.
Turning back to the camera he smiled and said."Here
goes nothin'."

When he was finished he turned the music off and
said."I know that was bad but I had to find a way
to convince you that I was telling the truth.If you

house.I left the front door unlocked and I'm waiting
in the basement.I love you Evangeline Marie Williamson with all my heart."
The tape ended and Evangeline stared at the screen
in shock.
Finally rising from the couch she began to pace trying
to decide if she wanted to go down that road again.
Then she suddenly realized that she couldn't remember a day before or after her time with John when she was as happy as she was with him.So she grabbed her jacket and headed to Mary's house to give happiness another chance.
About twenty minutes later Evangeline walked into
Mary's house and slowly walked down the steps to
the basement.As soon as she hit the last step
she saw John and she couldn't get to him fast enough.
She ran into his waiting arms and kissed him with an
eagerness and a passion that she hadn't felt in over
two years.
Pulling back she gazed into his brilliant blue eyes
and said."I love you John.I don't know how I could
have possibly thought that any other man could
make me happier than I was with you."Then she
pulled him into another kiss.
When the kiss ended John said."I love you too
Evangeline.I'm just sorry that it took me so long
to tell you and that I wasted so much time on
that redhead.I will never let her or anyone else
come between us again."
Evangeline smiled at him and said."Dance with me."
John leaned in and whispered in her ear."I thought
you'd never ask."then he walked back over to the
radio and found a station playing the perfect song.
Walking back to her he pulled her into his arms just
as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill began their romantic
song of love.

When the song ended Evangeline looked back up
at John and said."Make love to me John."
John looked at her with all the love he had for her and
said."I don't want you to think that I brought you here
just to make love.I want you to know in your heart
and soul that I want us to be more than we were
before.I want things to be different this time."
Evangeline put two fingers over John's lips to silence
him and said."John I know you didn't do all of this just
to sleep with me and I know that you love me.I do
feel that in my heart and soul.And I know that this
time it will be different.I also know how special it will
be to make love for the first time in our new start in
the place that it all began.I want this.So will you just
stop talking and make love to me."
John laughed leaned in and started kissing her neck.
Then he looked at her and said."I was never as happy
with anyone as I was with you."Then he began to
unbutton her blouse but stopped and said."I'm a
better man with you and because of you."
"John you once told me that I talk to much.Now I'm
telling you that you talk to much.Shut up McBain
and make love to me."Evangeline said pulling his
t-shirt over his head.
Soon they were both naked and John was trailing
slow hot passionate kisses down her beautiful
body.
Before she knew what was happening John was feasting on her sweet nectar.
The longer he feasted the more Evangeline felt the
bliss that she had missed so much.She had not felt
anything this amazing in two very long years.She
knew right then that John McBain was the love of her
life and there would never be anyone else for her.
Finally she couldn't take it anymore so she pulled
his head from between her legs and begged him
to give her the love she had longed for since the
day she walked out of his office ending their relationship.
"John baby please take me now."Evangeline begged.
John climbed back up her body looked down at her
and said."Evangeline tell me that you love me and
that you will never leave me again."
"Oh John my sweet beautiful Irishman.You are the
only man I have ever really love and there will never
be anyone else for me."Evangeline said pulling him
in for a kiss and tasting herself on his tongue she
finally remembered what extacy felt like.
As John devoured her mouth he drove himself deep
inide her and she felt the pain and passion she had
missed so much over the last two years.
After about three minutes of slow blissful thrusts they
finally came together in an explosion that they knew
was only the beginning of something that would last
a lifetime.
When John was finally drained of the last of his seed
he slowly pulled out of her and rolled to his back
pulling her on top of him.
As they finally slowed their breathing to normal Evangeline looked at him and said."John I have two questions.First how did you get into this house and second why did you sing to me that was terrible?"
John laughed and said."Well I sang to you because
I figured if you saw that I would embarrass myself
by showing off my horrible voice that I must really
love you and the reason we were able to get in the
house is because I own it."
Evangeline looked at him shocked and said."You
own it.What do you mean you own it?"
"I mean I bought it.I need to get out of that hotel
and I wanted to buy a place that had some memories
of us.I was going to buy apartment 35H in your building
but it was already occupied.So I contacted Mary and
asked her if this place was available and she said
yes.She sold it to me for a very fair price.She said
it was the least she could do for all the help we gave
her."
Evangeline couldn't help smiling.Then she looked
around and said."You know John this place needs
a lot of work."
"I know it does.So that's why I decided to take a three
month sabatical from work to fix the place up.Then
after I get it in shape I'm going to work on convincing
you that we should get married and start a family."
Evangeline climbed on top of him and said."You
wouldn't have to do much convincing.I'd marry you
tonight if you asked me."Then she leaned in and
kissed him.
They made love again and then fell asleep in each
other's arms happy that they were getting a second
chance at love.
Three months later they got married and moved into
their beautiful home that was rebuilt with love.
